She sued CBS and the show back in 2010, claiming that she had been fired after an extended period of workplace harassment because of her pregnancies. When she informed producers about her first pregnancy, Cochran alleges the producers decreased her on-air performances. Cochran says she was fired when requesting disability leave after a miscarriage. During her course on the show, she suffered three miscarriages. After returning from pregnancy leave, she says she was not allowed to return to her previous position as a featured model.
Attorneys for the production company say that her firing was unrelated to her pregnancy but they claim she was let go because she was unable to keep up with new host Drew Carey's "improvisational style."
However, Cochran is not the first Price Is Right model to sue the show. Lanisha Cole, Holly Hallstrom, and Dian Parkinson have also sued the show.
The trial is expected to last three to four weeks.
UPDATE: The jury agreed that the show had practiced discrimination and awarded Ms. Cochran more than $8.5 million in damages."I'm humbled. I'm shocked. I'm happy that justice was served today not only for women in the entertainment industry, but women in the workplace," she said.
