While shooting The Paperboy,
a period piece about race, class, and murder in 1970s Florida, director
Lee Daniels (Precious) demanded that Nicole Kidman use the N-word
against her Black costar.
She refused. And continued to do so when Daniels complained to producers.
At a press conference last week at the New York Film Festival, Kidman seemed annoyed at his request and insistence.
"I didn't feel like it was right for the character. I have a son who's African American and I just didn't feel it was right. It wasn't right," she said referring to her adoptive son with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
It's good to see that Nicole Kidman is unwilling to say the N-word when there are so many celebrities who will say racist things just to fit the part. More here.
