Calling all Educated Women: Don't Sell Your Dowry Yet - Study Shows You Just May Marry

In 1996, Newsweek reported:

"A woman over forty is more likely to be killed by a terrorist than get married."

But, the NYTimes dispels such a myth in The M.R.S. and the Ph.D.

Hear this:

"By age 30, and especially at ages 35 and 40, college-educated women are significantly more likely to be married than any other group," says the NYTimes.

Now Newsweek suggests that if you want to be happily married, then you should go to college.

A briefing paper released by the Council on Contemporary Families, reports that the marriage penalty women once paid for becoming educated, has disappeared.

When college educated women marry, they tend to have more stable marriages because they are financially stable and better able to choose a compatible mate.

Reports show that educated Black women have a higher marriage rate than their white counterparts. 70 percent of college educated Black women marry by the age of 40 compared to the 53 percent who never finish high school.

Women are no longer forced to choose between Prince Charming and a Ph.D. It seems men are taking heed of Beyonce's call.  And if not, it doesn't matter because we all know.
