"Pinkwashing" Products to Fight Breast Cancer

You've seen the pink ribbons and pink Kitchen-Aid mixers around town because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer advocates have taken their branding efforts even farther this year by selling pink pumpkins. 

But will "pinkwashing" products help find the cure faster?

Anyone can slap a pink ribbon on a product and try to turn a profit. Indeed, no agency or private entity monitors who can plaster products with pink or whether the sale of those products actually funds legitimate charities working to end breast cancer.

Some disreputable companies even go so far as to put pink ribbons on products that are known to cause cancer. Read more.
