Black Americans Adopt "white" Fashion With an Ethnic Twist, Says French Fashion Magazine

A contributor to French Elle is thankful The Obamas have inspired Black America to adopt "white" dress codes. 
“It’s impossible not to see the effect of the Obama couple. In an America run for the first time by a black president, chic has become a plausible option for a community up to now attached to its streetwear styles.”--French Elle
The blog post, "Black Fashion Power",  was written in French so we can only hope the non-racist part was lost in translation. The full post has been removed from the website.

In response to the French Elle blog, Fashion Bomb Daily highlights just a few Black Americans that stumbled onto fashion chicness before The Obamas, such as The Supremes, Diana Ross, Clair Huxtable from The Cosby Show, Salt 'N Pepa, TLC and Aaliyah.
