Mammy Might Win Big - Even More Times. When is Enough Mammy Enough Mammy? Is There Even Such a Thing as Too Much Mammy? The NAACP Says 'no'.

File:The crisis nov1910.jpgThe NAACP has nominated The Help for eight Image Awards.  

That's right, the organization that has sought since 1910 to bring African Americans forward, has hailed The Help as an image to which other Blacks should aspire.  Mammy.  Let that sink in for a while.  Mammy is who SBW should aspire to be?  

No thank you.

It is also of note that the other films honored include Pariah, a critically-acclaimed independent film about a teenage girl and her family coming to terms with her sexual orientation.  Check.  Sounds like a positive image for many teens.

Also on the list is Tower Heist, a movie starring Eddie Murphy and Gabourey Sidibe.  In it, the two pair up with other characters, played by Ben Stiller and Matthew Broderick, to rob a wealthy businessman.  That's right - the NAACP is also honoring felons.  [Insert statistic about Black incarceration rate.] 

Let's all wait on pins and needles to see what acts of 'coonery and buffonery' [thanks for the phrase, Spike Lee] will win!  Let's not and not say we did.
